Choosing what to wear for senior portraits is less about following strict "don't wear this thing" rules and more about creating a look that feels comfortable and personal. The best outfits match your personality and the overall mood you want in your senior pics.
Start with things that make you comfortable. That means both how they fit and what the style is. Don't wear something dressy if you don't normally wear dressy things. Also don't wear a crop top if you hate your arms. The more relaxed and real you are, the more it will show in your photos.
Wear something that makes you feel cool - however you see that. If it's something you'd be happy to wear around your close friends, I'm happy to take photos in it. Bring it. Let me argue with your mom about it.
It also helps to think about your character. Do you see yourself as classic and polished, relaxed and casual, or bold and expressive? Vintage and funky? Weird and quirky? Colorful and mismatched? DO THOSE THINGS.
Your clothing can help me tell your story.
I've said it a million times before, but I customize every session based on the client’s personality and vibe, so wardrobe choices become part of the creative process rather than a separate task. And if you're overwhelmed by the thought of that, that's ok because I'm not. Let me help pick what may work best!
