I may have watched Rounders again and been inspired.
I've been wanting to do a poker themed photo shoot for a long time, but watching the last scene of the movie pulled it all together for me.
I gathered some of the model team girls and we had a game night.
And, actually, my original plan was to do a photo shoot. And then it turned into a photo shoot with maybe a little video. And then I started writing an actual script and it turned into a microfilm with a little photography squeezed in the last 20 minutes.
You can find the video at the end of this blog.
My photography business specializes in working with creatives (actors, dancers, artists, etc) with a focus on tweens and teens, so doing projects like this is always fun and accessible to me. My clients are always up for weird little stuff like this, so when I told them we'd be filming a little movie, they were all excited to play along.
We found this location on Peerspace. I saw it a few years ago, actually, and knew I wanted to do a photo shoot there someday. It was the perfect space to do photography and take video in. Just enough natural light that it was usable but not overpowering. And I did bring in two extra lights (an Aperture 200s with a godox octabox and one with a reflector for hair pop). It was perfect for a quick set up....though I actually forgot to use the hair light for the video - only had it on for the photos. Oops.
Anyway! Check out the first TTW production of many (hopefully). It was so fun playing with video and the girls had a blast!
