Guys. I've been having so much fun with my sessions lately!
When running a business it tends to get a little mundane in the busy times and everything kind of blends into each other. I try really hard to make every session unique to my clients, but sometimes you just end up at the same locations and many people wearing the same types of things....and it just slows down the creativity.
I booked a session with Norah and mom was sending me outfit choices. We decided on a little black and white dress and it just screamed bratty lil rich girl. So I started planning. I made a mood board, booked the Tulsa Club Hotel lobby for our location, and got to work on session details.
The hotel had JUST put up their holiday decorations too, so it was the perfect fit to our vibe.
Wait. It gets better. Wait til you see the balloon dogs.
Nothing says rich lil girl like walking a whole fleet of little dogs. And we were in a quiet luxury hotel, so keeping our little dogs a more chill breed was important.
So we found these cute pups online and bought them all.
They behaved very well indeed.
Except for the one that slipped out of its leash and ran down the hall. But we caught him.
One of my favorite things lately has been over-planning sessions.
I have always done an unplanned, enjoy the chaos of not knowing, fly by the seat of my pants type of excursion....but knowing exactly what we're wearing and location and style and vibe of the session has brought another level to my work, I think.
I've LOVED how my work has turned out when I knew what I wanted to capture from the session while still allowing for some unplanned fun to happen in the moment. Mood boards set the tone and the client interaction sets the emotion.
If you're looking for a fun session in the Tulsa area (or I travel too, so you can book me across the US for a travel sesh!) and want something a little unexpected and out of the norm, give my work a look and see if we mesh well. I'd love to create something fun with you!
I specialize in tweens, teens, and senior portraits, with a focus on dancers, theatre kids, and other creative souls. But I'm also into fun personality/branding sessions for entrepreneurs and other like-minded fun adults!
