What Time of Year Should You Take Senior Pictures?

Fall.

I mean....it depends on your location, if you have a yearbook deadline, what your overall personality is, what you want to wear, etc.

I just love fall. Here in Oklahoma, it's either raining, hot af, cold af, or fall.  So...just sayin.

I just love the colors, the earlier sunset, the lack of mosquitos and ticks, the long sleeves and sweaters and scarves and jackets...all of it!

But surprisingly, fall isn't the most popular season here in Tulsa. It's SUMMER! People love to be tan, wear more freeing outfits, find the flowers, and soak up the SUN!

We do have some seasons here in Oklahoma, so spring and winter always have some senior bookings as well. But they are way less than summer and fall.

The main thing to think about when booking is what you want your photos to look like. Do you want the trees to have color and leaves on the ground? Or do you want green everywhere?

What about flowers - do you really want to find the light and airy wildflower fields? Think spring. How about sunflowers? End of summer/early fall.

Think about temperature where you are. How humid will it be?

Bugs? Do you mind spider season in the tall grass? Are you stocked up on bug spray?

Sunset times. Can you show up to your session a little earlier? The sun sets anywhere from 5pm to 9pm, depending what time of the year it is. And daylight savings sneaks up on ya!

Your photographer should know the best time for you if you give them a little idea of what you're looking for. And if you don't know, let them make the decision for ya!

Fall. Just shoot in fall.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
